Tenerife... |
What a wonderful place is Tenerife. especially when you go nowhere near the crowded areas and stay in small place and in the mountains
This section of the galleries deals with the scenic side of Tenerife and covers even then only a very small part of the island. We stayed on the north western side of the island on the south end of that long coast at a small village called Los Silos. We have stayed there twice and have thoroughly enjoyed our visits
The pictures include a lot from the Las Canadas caldera (The devil's cauldron) and also Mount Teide / Pico del Teide and Pico vejo because they are such incredible places to take pictures. One key feature that is so good for photography is that you are often above the bulk of any clouds that have arrived over the island.
The clouds are very important in terms of the overall climate and for the wildlife and agriculture because the moisture is captured in the pine forests on the
middle zone on the way up to the calders (around 200 / 6,600 feet), and much of this moisture then works its way down the slopes to where people live
i won't get into any more details here about Tenerife. There are a lot more details about the Island on the Tenerife Lava Tubes and Tenerife Geology pages
These pictures are taken with my Olympus E-30 camera with a selection of lenses
