Wonderful Whitby, Fishing and more
From a young age I was taken up to Whitby for days out. At just 21 Miles from Scarborough it was an easy jaunt, and we had links with the town with many family friends. Sadly I don't have pictures from that time because I did not have a camera of my own until after I had left home to go to university, but I do enjoy my visits back there these days and have found time to take a few walks on sunny days.
These visits have allowed me to remind myself of some of the adventures I had as a young man.
I used to go fishing there with my dad and when i was old enoutgh to have a moped some of my first adventures were to go up there and try my hand myself fising off the pier. My mother knew what sort of day I had had by what I brought home for dinner. More often than not it was a pair of kippers from Fortunes Smoke House which is still running and still worth stopping by for the excellent produce. if you are lucky you can find them just at the point of emptying the smokehouse and see sights like the ones in this gallery. I know the pictures cannot do the smell and taste any justice so you will need to take my word for it that they are both excellent!
I would love to (and will) find some time to really explore the more hidden corners of the town some time, but for now I am offering up these pictures to show how nice it can be on a sunny day with the colours of the boats, shops and houses reflecting in the waters of the harbour
One of the events I would love to photograph is the annual "Goth" festival. I have not managed to do that, but if you search on line for that you will find some fascinating pictures of most interesting people
The pictures in this section are taken with my E-30 Olympus e-Series camera with a selection of their excellent Zuiko lenses.
