Sunny Scarborough, Born and bred
Yup that's where I'm from .. What's more to say?
There are many sayings about people from yorkshire inclusing
"Yorkshire born and Yorkshire bred,
strong in the arm and weak in the head""Ear all, see all, say nowt;
Eyt all, sup all, pay nowt;
And if ivver tha does owt fer nowt
Allus do it fer thissen"
But are we that bad? I have a biased opinion of course, but what I can say is that we have wonderful seaside towns and the best time to visit them is when they are not as busy with other people.
Pictures here are taken in the Quiey North Bay and the busy South Bay where the working harbour is. In my young days it was even busier than it is now with the large timber ships coming in from Scandinavia. Sadly that trade is lost to the town, but there are still the beaches and the beach huts
The castle still stands despite being shelled by the german navy in the 1914-18 war
A more recent addition to the North Bay is "Freddie" who is well loved by all and there are lot of children and adults who like to sit with him. In fact it can be quite hard to get a picture of him on his own on a sunny day.
I have included a few pictures of the back streets of the old town. This is an area I would love to explore more of.
The pictures in this section are taken with my E-510 and E-30 Olympus e-Series cameras with a selection of their excellent Zuiko lenses.
